Mobility at Disneyland
August 23, 2006
This is a letter from Katie Fracolli, who recently benefitted from the use of a wheelchair from the Wheelchair Foundation.
Dear Mr. Hodge, Recently,
I tore my ACL playing football in a school game. Although our team won, I had to have surgery to repair the torn knee ligament. The surgery left me walking with a knee brace and crutches. This disability posed a major complication to the vacation my family and I had planned months before. We arranged to visit and celebrate my sister's graduation at the Disneyland theme park. I was devastated by the thought of not being able to participate with the rest of my family. The Wheelchair Foundation was the answer to my hopes. You granted me the permission to borrow one of your wheelchairs for the weekend. I was able to accompany my family to Disneyland and take part in all the activities. My disability did not impair my ability to enjoy myself and have a blast. I cannot thank you enough for allowing me to borrow one of the wheelchairs for the weekend and giving me the opportunity to spend time with my family on our vacation without constantly having to rest and slow down the family fun. If the wheelchair I borrowed affected me in such a positive way, I can only imagine the happiness you bring to others in need around the world. I wish you the best of luck in advancing the positive impact the Wheelchair Foundation has on the lives of millions.
Sincerely yours, Katie Fracolli
