Martell For Mobility 2009

Danville, CA
October 21, 2009

The September 12th “Martell for Mobility 2009” fundraising event at the Blackhawk Museum to benefit the Wheelchair Foundation raised more than $50,000 for wheelchairs for Vietnam.  To date, nearly 4,000 Vietnamese families in that beautiful country have benefitted from the results of this gala, and others, in partnerships with VNHELP www.vnhelp.org.

It was a wonderful evening sponsored by Martell Cognac with delicious food by Scott’s Seafood Restaurant.  Along with spectacular ambiance, guests were treated to two beautiful fashion shows by Quang Chanh of QC Designs and his attractive models, and a live auction, all followed by a tasting of excellent Martell Cognac, along with cigars.  Vietnam veterans Mike Weber and Jerry Yahiro spoke about their return to Vietnam to distribute wheelchairs, and their stories of the respect they shared with contemporaries they had previously opposed were very poignant.  Events like this one play a significant role in our accomplishment of the delivery of almost 800,000 wheelchairs to 153 countries around the world.
